How old are your Dobermans?
Cash was born in 2004. Vega was born 2 years and 2 days later in 2006. They are almost exactly two years apart.
Are you going to breed Cash and Vega together to make puppies?
No. Cash and Vega puppies are a physical impossibility due to modern veterinary procedures.
What are your Dobermans favorite toys?
Anything stuffy and squeaky, which they promptly destroy.
Also bully sticks, the Orbee football, certain Merrick bones, Cuz balls, tough nylabones, invincible rings, Orbee balls of all types, Jolly balls, Orbee bones, Buster Cubes, the Orbee strawberry, filled Kongs, tire toys, Kong Wubba, flying squirrels, tire toys, squeaky tennis balls, and the light bulb Orbee toy.
I thought cropping was illegal?
In the US cropping is legal.
Do they get along with other dogs?
Yes they do.
Do your Dobermans like car rides?
Yes.
Cash looks big. Is he a Warlock or King Doberman? No. Warlock and King Dobermans are fad names that just mean the dog is oversized. Many believe oversized Dobermans are prone to more health problems and have a short life span on average. Here is more information: http://www.dpca.org/PublicEd/PEC/PECWarlock.html
Do they get along with other people?
Yes and we take them in public all the time. Socialization is the key to having a confident and trustworthy Doberman. Dobermans cannot be socialized too much, and owners should continue to socialize their Dobermans for life.
What do they eat?
Cash eats Eagle Pack Duck and Oatmeal. Vega eats Taste of the Wild along with homemade dog food. Be aware if you have a Doberman puppy that many do not feed puppy food at all or not past 4 months of age due to the high protein contents. The reason is you do not want to encourage fast growth in a Doberman puppy, as fast growth leads to Pano.
What is their favorite food?
Cash is a vacuum and loves anything. If I threw dirt in his dog bowl, he would be more than happy to eat it, and demand seconds. Vega is a bit more discriminating, but still likes a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and meats.
Do your Dobermans have any titles?
Yes.
Where can I learn more about Dobermans?
Please cruise on over to Dober Links.
How much do they weigh?
Cash weighs 95 pounds. Vega weighs 65 pounds.
How do you keep their nails short?
A dremel tool.
How often do you trim your Dobermans nails?
We do their nails at least once a week on a grooming table.
Do you let them on your bed and your couches?
Yes.
What do your Dobermans think of children?
My Dobermans love them very much.
Vega with Child
I was raised with Dobermans. My children will also be raised with Dobermans.
Do you brush their teeth?
Yes.
Why did you make this site?
To fight Breed Specific Legislation. Also to share my Dobermans with long distance friends, family, and anyone who will enjoy them. I find immeasurable joy every day with my Dobermans and I hope their pictures and stories will bring some joy, happiness, and fond memories to others. Those who know me know I can never talk too much about my Dobermans! So this site is a nice outlet to let me talk and share my personal Dobermans. Thank you to everyone who reads this and takes the time to get to know more about the four-legged loves of my life. And many thanks to those who are Doberman lovers and Doberman supporters. As you know, Dobes really do make life richer and that much more special.
Where do they live?
In the United States.
Who is Alpha between your Dobermans?
Vega sometimes, Cash sometimes.
Are your Dobermans loving?
Yes.
Are your Dobermans protective?
Yes, but only when appropriate.
Which Doberman is your favorite?
I love them both and they are each my favorites in their own special and unique ways.
Why the name Cash?
Cash is named after my favorite Great Aunt.
Why the name Vega?
In Spanish class we studied a poet named Garcilaso de la Vega. I instantly thought, mental note, good dog name!
Do they have nicknames?
Yes. Cash is Cash man, Big Boo, Energizer Bunny. Vega is Little V, Veg, Love Bug. All puppies earn the nickname puppity-pup.
Do you plan on adding other Dobermans to your pack someday?
Yes.
I noticed your Dobermans seem to play rough with each other; do they get mad at each other?
Yes, they play rough. No, they don’t get mad at each other. I assure you they love each other.
Just who are you? Hello. I am Cash and Vega’s personal chef, trainer, life coach, biggest fan, activities coordinator, and devoted human mom. You can find me in some of the pictures if you look hard enough (fun game of where is Waldo perhaps?).

What words do they know?
I am confident they know a lot more than I can possibly list. Anyone who owns Dobermans can tell you these dogs bond with you quite quickly and understand far more than we give them credit for knowing. On that note here are the words we know they know sit, stay, okay, shake, come, want to go outside, want to go inside, where is insert name (they know several people by name), where is Cash, where is Vega, they both know their own names and respond to them as well as their various nicknames, wait, stand, out, weave, go free, tunnel, front, finish, play dead, want your belly rubbed, up on the bed, look at me, get in the tub, play, rings, where is your rings (they know the names of several toys) ball, football, eggplant (toy), bring it back, spin, speak, walk, car ride, kitty, are you hungry, treat, I love you (at least they seem to know what I mean!) get a drink/do you want a drink, get a bone, get your bone off the couch, give me a kiss or give him or her a kiss, lets do your nails, settle, gentle, want to play with the hose, over, drop, jump, and probably many other words I am forgetting at the moment.
Why Dobermans?
Why Dobermans?
I love the breed. My parents owned Dobermans before I was born and I grew up with the breed. Dobermans are in my earliest of childhood memories.
Don’t Dobermans turn?
Just because they are Dobermans, doesn’t mean they turn. There are over 73 million dogs living in the United States. Based on statistics, you are over 800 times more likely to drown than get killed or seriously harmed by your dog of any breed. Statistically speaking, you should be more way more concerned about getting struck by lightening or getting hit by a drunk driver. Always treat your dogs of any breed kindly and humanely and do not chain them in your yard.
One of your Dobermans looks thin in some of the pictures. Why?
Cash is very active. At every appointment Cash’s vet says he looks great. He went through several stages where regardless of the amount fed where he looked thinner than I would like.
What do you put in your Dobermans Kongs?
Please see this post on WiseDogBlog

What type of cat is in the gallery with your Dobermans?
Sphynx.
Why a Sphynx?
I wasn’t actively looking for a cat at the time but the Sphynx cat was in need of a home, the rest is history.
Do your Dobermans like your cat?
Yes. They both love "their" kitty.
Does your Sphynx cat like them?
She likes Vega all of the time. They are best friends. Her and Cash have a different type of relationship from the kitty’s point of view.
Where can I learn more about Sphynx?
There are several places. Here are two:
